There is something to be said for people who understand their weaknesses.
There is much more to praise when a person is willing to admit their weaknesses.
But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is covering your weaknesses. Covering them with people who thrive at the same task you may fail.
This is obvious.
And yet most teams are simply a set of people who aggregate because they represent some homophily. It might be a skill set which who unites them, a communication style, or (hopefully not) a race.
The key is to start building teams around the unity of a vision you are building, rather than those whom you share commonalities. That way you’ll be able to find those who can support your weaknesses.
